As a Hawaiian native, raised on the beaches of Southern California, the sun, the sand and the Pacific make my heart beat. As a modern Medicine Woman, I have been studying, for as long as I can remember, subjects such as, herbalism, meditation, spirituality and natural healing. I was a bit of a firebrand in my family; insisting on organic and a chem-free household, attachment parenting and Waldorf education. At the heart of my life, I am a healer, and more so, I am a facilitator. I hold much knowledge and experience in creating the space and the environment for your healing and wholeness. Holistic health, wellness and natural living isn’t just what I do for a living – it’s who I am, inspired by wholeness and passionate to share it with others.
Someone posed these questions to me recently…What change in this world have you felt inspired to be a part of? What have you done to make that change?
There were many “camps” and areas I feel I have been inspired to be a part of, and things of interest to which I have contributed, such as holistic wellness, feminism, recycling, sustainability, etc. There are many things that I am passionate about, and yet when I distill them all down, I can put one word to it….Embodiment. Embodiment of our true nature.
Embodiment meaning: a person, being, or thing illustrating a spirit, principle, abstraction, etc; incarnation.
The word “incarnation” really hits it for me. I have been working for a long time on my own embodiment. Waking up in this life, fully, as a woman, able to sense, know and trust my true self. I am a work in progress of course, we all are; and I do believe that I have a lot to share with others also on this journey. It is a carnal, fleshy experience to live in the truest sense of one’s beliefs and heart soul.
I believe that when you feel good, sleep well, digest well, conceive, carry and birth well, you can have the space in your body / mind / spirit to know who you are really. Not who you’ve been conditioned to be, or convinced you are. Who you are, who you came to this Earth to be. Because when you can be fully YOU… the whole world can celebrate! We’ve been waiting for YOU!
This is the space I hold for you, for everyone who comes to see me. For if that kink in your neck is holding you back from something you love, or your monthly cycle makes you wish you were not a woman… it’s these things that are actually holding you back from living the life you were meant to live.
Specifically, I specialize in women’s health and wellness. As an expert in women’s holistic health, I work mostly with fertility, and menstrual difficulties or irregularities and prenatal / postpartum care. I use modalities such as Massage Therapy (2000, Healing Hands School of Holistic Health, 2010 Teacher of the Year), Ayurvedic Medicine (2009 Honors graduate at Mount Madonna College of Ayurveda) Ayurvedic Masters Program in Obstetrics 2016, Herbalism (too many teachers to list!), Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Therapy (2014), trained Birth Doula (2014) / aspiring Midwife and Certified Yoga Instructor (2011). I have also been studying Female Spirituality, Earth Mysticism and Tantric Mysticism for many years with many beloved teachers. I am an ordained Priestess in Woman Mysteries of the Ancient Future Sisterhood (2005) where the Tantric Dance of Feminine Power originated.
Before specializing in women’s health my focus was in Sports Medicine. I have taught Sports Massage and Advanced Circulatory and PNF Stretching for over 10 years and was a principle instructor at Healing Hands School of Holistic Health leading their sports massage program. My practice was founded in injury prevention and rehabilitation. Occasionally I still see clients for this as well. Teaching inspired a deep love for the body and the science of anatomy, specifically. I feel the art of massage is founded in knowing your medium, like any artist; how to properly stretch and apply the correct strokes to affect the best healing technique is rather essential. The ability to listen, sense and feel the tissues beneath your fingers for pain, inflammation or resistance is crucial, like a clay potter at her wheel.
While working for Healing Hands School of Holistic Health I developed a subtle body / energy work technique based on the Tantric or Yogic subtle body theory of the Chakras, Nadis, Marmas, and Koshas. I incorporate visualization, meditation, sound healing, Yoga, color therapy, aromatherapy, gem stone therapy and more. My understanding of the energetic and physical landscape of the body helps me to unlock blockages, or at the very least guide us to the questions to ask as to what is needed for healing.
In 2005 I created an after-school program for girls (Gaia Girls(tm)) based in Goddess / Earth Spirituality. We made seasonal crafts, discovered our animal totems, learned the phases and rhythms of the moon, created plays and rituals all while in the sacred and safe space of The Goddess Temple of Orange County.
I absolutely love what I do… helping couples become a family; helping women feel healthy, vibrant and supported through all stages of their lives; supporting women through labor, birth and eventually postpartum. This is what inspires me everyday to share out into the world.
